S

Skill Level — The level assigned by a player for his character in one of the three stats. The skill levels range from totally lacking any ability to the greatest level one can hope to achieve.

Untrained
Novice
Skilled
Expert
Master
Grand Master

Skilled — Skilled is a Skill Level that can be assigned by a Player for a character Stat. Skilled means the Character has ability/training in that area and would need a score of 14 or higher on a d20 for a successful roll. A well trained fighter or mage would be an example.
Stats — Character Statistics. Also called Attributes. A character's physical and mental abilities, described numerically. For instance, Strength (the physical prowess of a character); Intelligence or IQ (the mental prowess of a character); Dexterity or Agility (the speed and limberness of a character); Constitution, Stamina or Health (the character’s ability to withstand injury and illness) are often recorded as stats. Further stats or different ones may be used, depending on the game in question.

Mystical Realms uses three stats. These are broad terms, which incorporate most of the combat skills that are needed for combat within MR.

Mind
Body
Magic

Mind - Mind skills can range from telepathy, mind blasts, empathy, or even defensive traits such as mind walls, and seeing through illusions. Innate abilities are also figured into the mind stat.

Body - Body traits can be anything from high strength, to fast feet. With a high body score, you can physically smash apart an opponent’s head with your bare hands, swordplay obviously is part of this trait as well.

Magic - Magic ability involves the casting of spells, whether learned or granted by a deity. You don’t have to be a wizard or priest to have a magic stat. Gordella, a goblin/elf hybrid, has no magical ability but does possess a magical ring of charming. Although she can’t cast spells, she can use her ring and therefore has a Magic Stat of 11.

Each Stat is given a Skill Level:

Untrained
Novice
Skilled
Expert
Master
Grand Master

Magical items should have an Expert (11) or a Master (8) rating, with Master reserved for the more powerful and unique items.

T

U
